Toy Library Awareness Week

Toy Library Awareness Week

16 - 22 November 2020
Toy Library Awareness Week is all about celebrating Toy Libraries, our volunteers, TOYS and the amazing communities we are a part of.
The theme for 2020 is Hauora/Wellbeing because Toy Libraries build healthier tamariki and communities.
  • Toys grow creative young minds and active bodies.
  • Toys help children see the world differently, they let them explore and discover.
  • Toys enable children to build relationships and reduce stress.
  • Toys help children value friendship and whānau through play.
  • Toys are inclusive.
We think Toy Libraries are fantastic! To celebrate Toy Library Awareness Week we will be organising a few fun things for our members and launching our 100th member promotion so we can share the love with more of our community.

We now have Zerobags for sale and $4 from each one sold goes to the toy library!
Zerobags are made from upcycled parachutes and are strong yet lightweight. They pack down into a small parcel which is easy to keep in your bag.
Grab yours next time you're in the library.

Even though we know what is inside, it is still so exciting to open up a new toy delivery!

We are now opening Thursday evenings!

Starting tomorrow we are going to trial having an evening session.
We will be opening every Thursday from 6 - 8pm.
This will be a two month trial and if there is enough interest we will add it to our permanent hours.
Just a reminder - Level 2 social distancing rules still apply so we will be limiting to 2 people/families in the library at a time. You can book your toys online and a Click and Collect time to pick up.
If you have any questions, please don''t hesitate to get in touch.

Opening at Level 2

We will be operating at Level 2 conditions for this Saturday''s session and beyond until further notice.
This means that we will be returning to Click and Collect booking via our website.

Important Info:
If you or any member of your family are sick, please don''t come in. Instead please contact us via email or messenger and we will extend your hires without charge.
Whilst you can come into the library, it is our preference that you use the Click and Collect option as we will be limiting entry to 2 families at a time.
If Level 3 is announced, the toy library will be closed and toys hire dates will automatically be extended without charge.
If you have any issues or queries or need some help logging into our website, please get in touch.
Take care!

Come along to our AGM - 30 June 2020

The Pegasus Toy Library Management Committee will be holding our Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 30 June at 7.30pm in the toy library.
All members are welcome to attend! This is a great opportunity if you''re interested in finding out more about what we do. As always, if you''re keen to join us please come along!!
The future of your library is reliant on members putting up hands and getting involved.

We are Re-Opening!

As of tomorrow the country will be in Alert Level 2 which means we are very happy to let you know that the Toy Library will be re-opening next week on Wednesday 20th May at 10 am.

As you can imagine it won''t quite be business as usual, so here is some important information for how we will operate at level 2.

  • All toys hired over the lockdown period will need to be returned within a week as they will need to be quarantined and disinfected before other members can rehire them.
  • Members won''t be able to enter the library at this stage, we will be providing a click and collect service. All toys can be booked through our website.
  • On arrival at the library, members will be directed to a designated toy drop-off area as toys will go directly into quarantine.
  • Your membership will automatically be extended for the amount of time that we have been closed.

We are really looking forward to being open again and hope that we can make this work for everyone. If you have any concerns or queries please don''t hesitate to contact us.

Toy Library Update!

As the time gets closer for the country to enter Level 2 we have been having a look at what this might look like for the toy library. Obviously this will depend on the specifics that will be released with the next Government update on Monday 11th May.

Some degree of social distancing will still be necessary so we will probably have to limit toy library access to one family at a time. This may work on an appointment system and/or a process of waiting in your car and we text or message you when you can come in.

An option we are looking at is click and collect. This will mean that you can browse and select online and we will have the toys ready for you.

We will send out another email next week once we have finalised our level 2 opening procedures.

Hope to see you soon!

Our Library is now Closed!

In response to the government advice released yesterday on containing the COVID-19 virus, we have decided to close the toy library.
We have sent out an email to all members outlining some key points regarding toy hire. If you did not receive the email please contact us at

The library will be opening for a final special session tomorrow evening (Monday 23 March) from 6-8 pm for anyone who wishes to return and/or hire toys.

Our Library is Still Open!

We know these are uncertain and unsettling times for a lot of people, and we want to reassure you that the health and well-being of our members are our top priority.

We are still opening as usual as we want to continue to deliver our service for as long as possible.

We are monitoring this situation carefully and will keep everyone updated should things change.

Returning toys to the library:

  • if you or your family are sick, please stay home and email us to renew your toys.
  • please ensure all toys are washed and disinfected before returning. We will also have a last chance toy cleaning station at the door.

Thank you and take care.
